Chondroitin: A natural cure

Among the many and diverse substances used to combat today's health ills, chondroitin is a recognized name. This naturally occurring element is commonly used as a remedy for chronic arthritis and other inflammations of the joints. It is also mentioned in studies concerning the onset of adult diabetes, but by far the most common use is in the treatment of painful conditions in the joints: for example, carpal tunnel in the wrists, or arthritic degenerations of the hips, knees, or ankles. There are many ways to contract these conditions, whether through repetitive actions, strenuous activity, or simply through the body's aging process.

Specifically, chondroitin is used in situations where the cartilage of a joint has worn away or become altered somehow. Several painful conditions can develop in the joints and in these cases, chondroitin is often used to treat the conditions.

Chondroitin is Safe and Natural

Chondroitin is found naturally in the cartilage of certain mammals. The idea is that if a patient ingests chondroitin, the basic elements of cartilage will be present in the body. Since cartilage in the joints undergoes a cyclical process of regeneration, it is thought that taking chondroitin can help replenish the cartilage and therefore alleviate conditions of grinding and 'wear-and-tear' on the joints. The body will in a sense create new cartilage from the rubble of the old.

Chondroitin has been reported effective in treating many arthritis patients. Many studies have found that after chondroitin use, the pain alleviation in patients was statistically above that of placebo users. Though all research is inherently subjective, the use of chondroitin is 'time-tested' and many will testify to its utility.

It is also established that the side effects of chondroitin are minimal, and as a treatment of the above mentioned conditions, chondroitin is a safer treatment than others, such as cortisone injections, where the patient runs the risk of a 'cortisone flare' involving recurrent pain or an infection in the joint due to the injection. Chondroitin is only a substance that introduces the basic resources for cartilage building into the body's system, and in that capacity it has become a popular supplement in the market.

For those suffering from a joint condition, arthritis, or a condition involving joint pain, it is helpful to consider the possibility of chondroitin as part of a balanced treatment pattern. This element can play a significant part in the road to recovery from these painful and inhibiting conditions.
